Google Drive is changing how it allows us to sync files with them. Please read below for more details on how this change will affect your account and what you need to do so your files continue syncing between Fileinvite and Google Drive
Due to Google's new security policy, we've had to make some important changes regarding the Google Drive integration with FileInvite.
Effective on the 22nd of May 02.30 GMT
Previously, Google allowed the FileInvite integration to create a folder tree inside other folders in your Google Drive. With this update, FileInvite will only have access to the root folder on your drive. When you re-connect your Google Drive Integration, a "FileInvite Documents" folder will be created automatically.
Any Google folders created before this update will not be affected.
Key Points:
- Google's new security policy: Google has announced changes to its settings, which will impact the syncing of files to personal folders and shared drives. Consequently, our FileInvite integration needs to undergo a code change to align with these modifications.
- Action Required: Due to these changes, users will need to reconnect their Google Drive integration after the release. This includes the settings page for the Google Integration, templates that have been set to specific folders, and current invites that are collecting your documents
This step is necessary to ensure continued syncing. - Folder Relocation: Due to this update, all FileInvite folders created or used before the update will remain in their current locations within your Google Drive. These folders will still be available in your Google Drive but no longer accessible through the app when changing the integration file path. Since we no longer have access to the wider folder structure in Google Drive, we have created the new folder named "FileInvite Documents"
- No Impact on Existing Files: The changes will not affect any files already saved in the personal or shared folder. These files will remain accessible as before.
Additional Information:
- For Users Who Do Not Change Their Folder Path: Users will need to manually navigate to their Google Drive to access their FileInvite Documents folder, as duplicated folders will not be browsable through the integration.
- For Users Changing Their Folder Path: When re-syncing, the previously integrated folder (e.g., "SampleInteg_1") will not be created inside the "FileInvite Documents" folder. Instead, the structure will be as follows:
- FileInvite Documents > Contact's Folder > Invite Title > Original and PDF Converted Folders (or depending on the cloud settings reference ID you are using).
- New Folder Structure: Users will only see the 'FileInvite Documents' folder in the integration folder path for Google Drive. In this update, the integration will no longer allow access to shared folders, shortcuts, and manually created folders in Google Drive.
- Folder creation will follow this structure: FileInvite Documents > Contact's Folder > Invite Title > Original and PDF Converted Folders (or depending on the cloud settings reference ID).
We understand that these changes may cause some inconvenience, but they are necessary to comply with Google's new security policy and ensure the continued smooth operation of your FileInvite integration.
