Do you need to request additional documents from a client after you've already sent an invite? Follow this guide to learn how to accomplish that.
If your Fileinvite Login URL ends in fileinvite.com, please use this knowledge base instead.
Why Use a Follow-Up?
If you require more documents after sending an invite, there’s no need to issue a new one. Instead, use the Invite Follow-Up feature to add new requests to the existing invite. This allows your client to continue submitting documents through the same invite, streamlining the process.
How to Send a Follow-Up
-
Click the Invite Management button to open your invite list.
-
Select the invite you'd like to follow up on.
-
Click Invite Actions, then choose Create Follow-Up.
-
Add a name for the Follow-Up.
-
Choose to:
-
Add requests from a template, or
-
Create a new request from scratch.
-
-
When you're ready, click Send Follow-Up.
That’s it! Your client will receive a notification to access the invite again and complete the new request(s).
Enhanced SMS Capabilities
Follow-Up communications now support expanded SMS options to increase response rates:
-
Reminder SMS: Not just for initial invites — reminders now support SMS.
-
Due Today SMS: Automatic SMS sent for requests due today.
-
Overdue SMS: Alerts sent via SMS for overdue submissions.
-
Portal Link Upgrade: When using "Send Portal Link", both email and SMS are sent simultaneously.
Communication Best Practices
-
Combine email and SMS for time-sensitive follow-ups.
-
Tailor follow-up delivery based on your borrower’s preferred communication method.
-
This dual channel approach improves visibility and boosts completion rates.
Assign Specific Contacts to Requests
Based on user feedback, you can now assign individual document requests to specific contacts during a follow-up. This enhances privacy and control, particularly for sensitive or regulated information.
🛠️ How to Assign Contacts in a Follow-Up
-
Create a Follow-Up as usual.
-
In the follow-up interface, you’ll see the Assign Contact option next to each request.
-
Select the contact who should receive that request.
-
Repeat as needed — you can assign:
-
Multiple requests to one contact
-
Different requests to multiple contacts
-
🔐 What Your Client Sees
Each contact will:
-
Only see and respond to the requests assigned to them
-
Not have visibility into requests meant for other contacts
🎯 Benefits of Contact Assignment
