Learn how to view password-protected PDF files directly within FileInvite. When borrowers upload password-protected PDFs, you can now unlock and preview them without needing to download the file first.

How It Works
When a borrower uploads a password-protected PDF to an Invite, FileInvite preserves the original file security. You can view these protected documents directly in the FileInvite preview window by entering the password.
Viewing a Password-Protected PDF
- Navigate to your Invite and locate the password-protected PDF
- Click on the file to open the preview window
- When prompted, enter the password in the Password field
- The document will unlock and display in the preview
Note: The password field only appears when you attempt to preview a password-protected PDF. Standard PDFs will open immediately without this prompt.
Downloading Protected Files
You can download password-protected PDFs at any time without entering a password:
- The original file downloads with its password protection intact
- You'll need to use the password in your PDF viewer to open the downloaded file
- Use the Upload New Files button or download options as usual
Important: FileInvite does not remove password protection from uploaded files. The password requirement is preserved to maintain document security.
💡 Best Practice: If borrowers frequently upload password-protected files, consider requesting the passwords in advance or asking them to remove protection before uploading when appropriate for your workflow.
