New Portal Redesign

We've completely redesigned the borrower portal to create a faster, more intuitive document collection experience, especially on mobile devices.

Why We Redesigned the Portal

The previous portal wasn't optimized for mobile users, and its design didn't reflect the polish expected from modern online tools. Since many of your borrowers access the portal for the first time on their phones, often while on the go, we knew we needed to deliver a mobile-first experience that makes a strong first impression.

This matters because:

  • First impressions shape how your clients perceive your institution's professionalism and efficiency
  • Mobile-friendly design directly increases document submission completion rates
  • A streamlined experience reduces borrower friction and support request

What's Changed: Key Updates

1. Mobile-First, Responsive Layout

The portal now adapts to any screen size. Whether your borrowers are on a phone, tablet, or desktop, they'll experience an intuitive layout that makes uploading documents fast and frustration-free.

What this means for you: Fewer incomplete submissions and faster turnaround times, especially from borrowers who primarily use mobile devices.

2. Automatic Submission (No More "Submit" Button)

Previously, borrowers had to click "Submit" after uploading files. Now, once a file is uploaded, it's immediately available for your team to review—no extra step required.

How it works:

  • Borrowers upload a document → it's instantly ready for review
  • Your team can approve or request revisions right away
  • Borrowers can continue uploading additional documents until you mark the request as "Accepted"
  • Once accepted, the borrower can no longer make changes to that request

What this means for you: Faster document intake, less confusion for borrowers, and fewer incomplete submissions due to a forgotten final click.

3. Visual Completion Progress Bar

A progress indicator now shows borrowers exactly how much they've completed at a glance. This gamified element motivates them to finish and provides immediate feedback on what's left to do.

What this means for you: Higher completion rates and fewer follow-ups needed to remind borrowers of outstanding items.

4. Grouped Requests

If you organize requests into groups (e.g., "Personal Financial Documents," "Business Tax Returns"), the portal will visually display these collections to help borrowers understand what's needed in context.

How it works:

  • Requests you've grouped will appear under clear section headings
  • If you have a mix of grouped and ungrouped requests, FileInvite will automatically organize ungrouped items into a default group for visual consistency

What this means for you: A more organized, scannable portal that reduces borrower overwhelm—especially helpful for complex commercial loans with many document requirements.

5. Prominent, Accessible Messaging

Messages are no longer tucked away in a separate tab. The 3 most recent messages now appear directly on the portal home screen, with a "View All Messages" button for full conversation history.

What this means for you: Better communication visibility, faster borrower responses, and fewer missed messages that could delay the process.

What Stays the Same

  • All existing invite settings, permissions, and workflows remain unchanged
  • Document security, storage, and compliance features are unaffected
  • Your branding, custom messaging, and due date settings work exactly as before
