How to enable Multi-Factor Authentication
Setup Multi-Factor Authentication as an additional layer of security to your account
If your Fileinvite Login URL ends in fileinvite.com, please use this knowledge base instead.
User-Level MFA Enforcement
Connect an authenticator application to your account to ensure your data is secure. This feature allows you to have two factor authentication when signing in to enhance your account's security.
Note: While SAML is enabled on an account, the MFA options under profile will no longer appear.
1. In the FileInvite app, go to Settings and click the Profile tab.

2. Click the Enable button under Two-Factor Authentication.

3. Follow the step by step instructions to submit the Authentication Code.
Note: You can use an existing authenticator tool such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, Last Pass, etc.
4. After successfully submitting the Authentication Code, you will get a confirmation that the Authenticator is enabled.
5. Multi-Factor Authentication is now enabled! You can cancel this anytime by clicking on Disable.

Account-Level MFA Enforcement
FileInvite administrators can enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) at the organization level to protect against account takeovers. When MFA enforcement is enabled, all users in your account must set up MFA before accessing the application.
How MFA Enforcement Works
For New Users:
- New users are prompted to set up MFA during their first login
- Cannot access the application until MFA is configured
For Existing Users Without MFA:
- Redirected to MFA setup screen on next login
- Must complete MFA setup before continuing to the application
- Cannot bypass or skip MFA enrollment
For Administrators:
- View MFA status for all users in Settings > Team Members
- Monitor organization-wide MFA compliance at a glance
- Access MFA enforcement controls under Advanced Settings > MFA tab
Steps to Enable Account-Level MFA Enforcement
- Navigate to Settings > Advanced Settings
- Click the MFA tab at the top of the page
- Toggle Require MFA for all users to the enabled position (blue)
- Click Save Changes

Monitoring MFA Compliance
After enabling MFA enforcement, administrators can monitor which users have completed MFA setup:
- Navigate to Settings > Team Members
- View the MFA? column to see each user's MFA status
- Green checkmark (✓) indicates MFA is enabled
- Empty field indicates MFA is not yet configured

Important Notes:
- MFA enforcement is mandatory for all users in your organization and cannot be disabled once activated
- This protects your organization from unauthorized access, even if user credentials are compromised
- All users will be required to complete MFA setup on their next login if they haven't already enabled it
- The Team Members page provides real-time visibility into which users have completed MFA setup
