This article explains the different types of Borrower Email Notifications sent from FileInvite, who receives them, when they are triggered, and how they can be customized.
Who Receives These Emails?
These emails are sent to the contacts associated with an Invite — typically the individuals from whom documents or responses are being requested.
If branding is enabled, these emails will automatically inherit your organization’s branding (logos, colors, etc.).
You can customize the content of many of these emails by going to:
Settings > Borrower Email
Please note: Not all email types listed above are currently available for customization.
🔔 Types of Email Notifications
Below is a list of the email types sent to borrowers, along with when they are triggered and relevant notes:
- Invite Email
Triggered when an Invite is initially sent.
If the “Invite Message” field is empty, the system will send a default message. - Reminder Email
Sent on the day configured in your “Almost Due Reminder” settings. - Follow-up Email
Triggered when a user sends a follow-up request to the contact.

Overdue Email
Sent on the day specified in the “Overdue Reminder” settings. -
Due Today
Automatically sent on the Invite’s actual due date. -
Portal Closed
Sent when a contact is removed from the Invite. -
Resend Invite
Triggered when a user selects Invite Actions > Send Portal Link from within the Invite.
If no “Leave Note” is provided, a default message is sent.
This email is not currently available for customization in the Borrower Notification Settings. -
Portal Reopened
Sent when an archived Invite is unarchived and the user chooses “Yes, notify”.
This notification is also not currently customizable. -
Request Revision
Triggered when the user selects the Request Revision action on a document request.
If no “Leave Note” is entered, the default message is sent.
Not available for customization yet. -
Signed Form Link
Sent when a signed form is accepted by the user.
This notification is not yet available in the custom notification settings.
